Canada’s Parks Posters
Celebrating Canada’s natural heritage through design.
Canada is the second-largest country in the world, yet much of its vast landscape remains unpopulated. With expansive forests, rugged mountains, and arctic tundra, it is a country defined by its natural beauty.
In tribute to this remarkable landscape, I’ve undertaken a personal project: a series of art prints inspired by Canada’s national and provincial parks, historic sites, and natural wonders.
Objective
The goal was to design a cohesive collection of vintage-style posters that echo the charm of the 1930s–1940s WPA screen-printed travel posters. The series aims to capture the essence of Canada’s most iconic parks and landmarks while maintaining design consistency and historical influence.
To ensure the collection is both comprehensive and scalable, I established the following creative framework:
- Design a print for every National Park in Canada
- Include at least one print for each Province and Territory
- Incorporate key facts or stories unique to each location
- Develop reusable templates for National and Provincial parks to maintain visual consistency across the collection
This project blends illustration, typography, and research, resulting in a timeless visual celebration of Canada’s natural treasures.
To capture the spirit of the original 1930s–40s woodcut and serigraph posters, I created contemporary illustrations that reflect their simplified style and limited colour palettes, complemented by a carefully crafted aged aesthetic to evoke a sense of authenticity.
Print Design
The series began with a selection of my personal favorite parks, then expanded based on popularity and public interest. After launching the collection through a print-on-demand platform, demand quickly grew, and I began receiving requests for specific parks, turning the project into a continuously evolving series.
Web Design
I designed and developed a fully responsive website to showcase the expanding print collection, along with a dedicated landing page to support targeted ad campaigns.
Impact
What began as a personal tribute quickly evolved into a passionate project that resonates with audiences across Canada and beyond. By visually celebrating this country’s diverse landscapes, the series fosters greater appreciation for Canada’s natural heritage and inspires both residents and visitors worldwide to connect with these iconic places. As the portfolio continues to grow, its influence extends beyond art, contributing to cultural awareness, tourism promotion, and environmental appreciation on a national and international scale.
