The Group of Seven
The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson have long been a significant source of creative inspiration for me.
Despite their importance in Canadian art history, I was surprised to find a lack of well-designed, informative websites dedicated to their work and legacy. To address this, I acquired a domain and began building a responsive, content-rich site that offers a deeper look into each member’s life, art, and contribution.
Design
Typography played a key role in the visual direction. Typefaces were carefully chosen to reflect the aesthetic of late 19th and early 20th century moveable type, evoking the era in which the Group of Seven was most active. This helped ground the site in historical context while maintaining a clean and modern user experience.
