A cohesive collection of vintage-inspired posters representing every national park in the United States.
Overview
The success of my Canadian Parks print series has its roots in my experiences visiting National Parks across the United States.
During these visits, I encountered the iconic screen-printed posters created for the Federal Art Project between 1935 and 1943. These historic designs served as a key inspiration for my own Canadian parks poster collection. Driven by my passion for design, I also began developing a parallel series focused on U.S. National Parks, further exploring this timeless visual style.
The objective was to develop a cohesive collection of vintage-inspired posters representing every national park in the United States. Key requirements for each design included:
- Developing and applying a consistent template for the entire series
- Including the year each park was established
- Clearly indicating the state or states in which each park is located
My approach was to honor the classic 1930s and 1940s woodcut and serigraph posters by creating contemporary artwork complemented by a carefully crafted, authentic aged appearance for each print.
Print Design
These posters are crafted specifically for high-quality giclée printing, utilizing archival inks and paper to ensure longevity. The series began with my personal favorite parks and has since expanded based on popularity and demand.
Web Design
I designed and developed a fully responsive website to showcase the print collection, along with a dedicated landing page to support targeted advertising campaigns.
Impact
What began as a personal way to celebrate beloved places has grown into a compelling art series that fosters a deeper cultural appreciation for these landscapes. By visually capturing the essence of iconic parks and natural sites, the collection helps preserve and promote national heritage, inspiring a wider audience to connect with and value these cultural and environmental landmarks.
